Solo & Ensemble Contest (2/22)

2010 (photo by A. Abboud)

On Saturday, February 22, all 7th and 8th graders along with many 6th graders will be performing at the NIMCon Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Practice, practice, practice! At this point, with just over two weeks to go, students should be practicing their pieces every day. If they are in an ensemble they should be getting together outside of school to work on their music together. This can be done after school here in the orchestra room on most days.

Still have questions? Everything you need to know about Solo & Ensemble Contest will be available at NIMCon Solo & Ensemble Contest. As I receive any last information from the host site, I will include the information there.

Hildebrand Music Festival (3/10)

On Tuesday, March 10, the Intermezzo Orchestra (grade 6) will be performing for a clinician at the Hildebrand Music Festival. Following the performance, the orchestra will receive a full 30 minute clinic with an esteemed music educator.

Since we are hosting the event at our school, students will simply arrive to orchestra a few minutes early from 2nd Period.

I’ll be sending more information very shortly, requesting parent help.

D95 North StringFest (3/12)

On Thursday, March 12, our Orchestras will be joining the Elementary Orchestras (grade 4 – 8) in performance at biennial D95 StringFest. It’s a great opportunity to hear the orchestra program as a whole and the progression of students who begin the awesome journey of orchestra in 4th Grade. Witness the hard work of the orchestra students throughout the many years through 8th grade.

AltStrings Fest (4/14)

Prima Musica will be performing with the MSS Silly Strings and the LZHS Pop Orchestra “Bear Strings” at the D95 AltStrings Fest on Tuesday, April 14.

Spring Concert (5/14)

The final Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 14 @ 7 PM in the LZMSN Cafetorium. At the final concert we will bid a bittersweet adieu to the 8th graders, perform music from a wide range of eras, as well as perform music from our very own Composer in Residence, The Viper!

Awards Banquet (5/20)

251 Students in attendance for the BOC Awards Banquet (2017)

At the end of every year (this year on May 20) students are awarded for their accomplishments at the annual BOC Awards Banquet. The evening begins with a formal dinner, followed by a DJ & dance, and ends in an awards ceremony where all orchestra students (band and choir too) are recognized for their participation in orchestra and select students are awarded for their extraordinary achievements in orchestra.
